A few days had passed since my encounter with Elisha.
My brothers, our father, and I had returned to our family estate in the Serenife territory. My father—Valdo Seleknife, the highest-ranking officer in the Imperial army and the final boss of Elroad of the Burial Nation—summoned my brother, Rolf, who was the same age as me, and me to the audience chamber as soon as we returned.
Kneeling in the spacious chamber, I looked up at Valdo’s face.
His fiery red hair and beard were like a lion’s mane, and his sharp gaze showed no trace of affection, even towards his sons. Dressed in armor, his massive, muscular frame was settled into an opulent chair that resembled a throne. Beside him stood Alfred, the elderly butler and Valdo’s trusted confidant.
Valdo looked down at Rolf and me with the disdain one might reserve for garbage, then declared in an intimidating voice.
“Let me remind you both—there is no place for incompetence in our house. Especially the two of you, who are significantly less talented than your other siblings. If you don’t want to be discarded, train as if your life depends on it.”
Having said that, Valdo turned his gaze to me.
“Especially you, Kyle. If you still can’t use magic after all this time, you are a disgrace to our family. If you continue to show no growth, consider your life forfeit.”
With that, Valdo gestured dismissively, as if to say “get out.”
As soon as we left the audience chamber, Rolf stomped on my foot.
“Hey, it’s your fault I got yelled at by Father!”
The ten-year-old brat with his red hair, red eyes, and smug face—Rolf glared at me from close range and ground his foot into mine.
“In the first place, it’s presumptuous of you, a lowborn bastard born from a maid’s womb, to even bear the name Serenife. Just like your bitch of a mother, you should just die like a dog.”
“Yeah…sure,” I replied half-heartedly, accustomed to Rolf’s insults.
Perhaps because we were half-brothers of the same age, Rolf would always pick on me. Compared to our other, more accomplished brothers, Rolf was quite ordinary, so he probably needed an outlet for his inferiority complex.
I had no obligation to entertain such a brother, but openly defying him would only make things more troublesome.
Firstly, I had been told that my mother died when I was born, so I didn’t really have a strong sense of her existence… It felt like someone was insulting a person who didn’t exist, or something like that.
“Well, you have no hope of survival without magic anyway. Enjoy your life while you still can,” Rolf sneered before walking away, seemingly bored by my lack of reaction.
After seeing Rolf off, I sighed deeply.
Even that Rolf had a role as a villainous noble under **Elroad of the Burial Nation.**
Yet, as for me—Kyle Serenife—I had no memories of him in the original story whatsoever.
++…So that’s what it is. As Valdo had declared, the original Kyle was probably disposed of by Valdo without ever showing any growth.++
Now that I think about it, Valdo was described in the original story as a “monster who mercilessly kills even his own sons if deemed unnecessary.” So the son who was killed must have been Kyle.
“Well, that makes sense, doesn’t it?”
In the world of **Elroad of the Burial Nation**, it was generally assumed that all humans possessed magical power and could use magic. In a world where those who could use stronger and more advanced magic were valued and revered, it was only natural that someone who couldn’t use magic at all would be scorned.
If such a person were to be born into the final boss’s family, of all places… It wouldn’t be surprising if they were killed by their own parent.
“In short, I’ve reincarnated as a mob character who doesn’t even appear in the original story, huh?”
I looked at my reflection in the mirror placed in the hallway. Even my dull face with black hair and black eyes looked like a typical mob character.
It was just my kind of bad luck, but I couldn’t just wallow in despair.
I had promised Elisha that we’d meet again at the officer academy in five years.
If I couldn’t even keep that promise, then I truly had no reason to live.
I immediately returned to my room, changed into my training clothes, packed some healing potions in my backpack, strapped a short sword meant for children to my waist, and sneaked out of the castle.
I wandered through the forest near the castle, cautiously searching for monsters. It didn’t take ten minutes before I encountered one.
The monster I encountered was a Gray Hawk.
It was about 60 centimeters long, and in the original game, it was a monster that appeared early on.
I drew the sword at my waist and held it ready, preparing for the Gray Hawk’s attack.
The Gray Hawk took off from its perch and swooped down towards my neck.
In an instant, I turned my body to avoid the attack and sliced through one of the Gray Hawk’s wings as it passed by.
Losing the ability to fly, the Gray Hawk crashed to the ground and spread its wings in a threatening manner.
No, it wasn’t just a threat. It was—
As I realized this, a fierce wind erupted in front of the Gray Hawk. It was the first-tier wind magic, Wind Edge. The gust of wind targeted me, becoming a blade that cut through the air towards my chest.
I instinctively braced myself for the pain, but—even after the wind passed, there wasn’t a single scratch on my body.
The Gray Hawk prepared another spell, but I quickly closed the distance and finished it off.
After confirming that the monster was no longer moving, I checked the condition of my body.
“…Yeah, no injuries at all. My clothes aren’t even torn.”
++Did the Gray Hawk miss with its magic? No, there’s no way it could have missed at that distance.++
“Could it be, I have a body that’s immune to magic…?”
Perhaps my inability to use magic was also due to a constitution that blocked magic.
At first glance, it seemed incredibly advantageous, but thinking calmly, it was quite dangerous in many ways.
Being immune to magic meant that healing magic and support magic wouldn’t work on me either.
In this world where most medical treatments were performed using magic, it was a tremendous debuff.
“Well, there’s no point in complaining about it. I should focus on figuring out how to make the best of this situation.”
With a sigh, I continued to move through the forest.

By the time I finished battling monsters, it was already dusk.
After fighting for nearly half a day, I felt that I had gotten somewhat stronger.
I also had time to test a few things, confirming that healing potions worked on my body, despite my magic immunity.
Sensing the presence of another Gray Hawk above me, I lightly kicked the ground.
Jumping nearly three meters into the air, I slashed the Gray Hawk perched on a branch, cutting it clean in two.
The force of my swing even split the tree trunk, causing the upper part of the tree to crash down with a loud noise.
Landing on the ground, I looked down at my child-sized sword.
“After just half a day of leveling up, I can cut through a tree with this dull blade…”
++Is this normal for this world? If so, then when my father gets serious, he might be able to split the earth itself.++
“Well, maybe it’s just because my level is still low, so it’s easier to notice the growth.”
++When I feel like I’ve hit a limit with leveling here, I should try exploring a nearby dungeon. ++With those thoughts in mind, I headed back to the castle with a light step.
