“NOOOO!!!”
++…Huh? What’s going on?++
++I should have been killed by a random attacker just moments ago… My house? No, this isn’t it… my room isn’t this big. And my house isn’t this Western-style.++
“What the hell…”
I got out of bed. For some reason, it was hard to move.
I looked into the large mirror that was in the room.
“Whaaaat???”
++Who is this? Me? No, I recognize this face—++
“That’s… Keith Grid, the villainous noble from [God Blaze]!!!”
[God Blaze] was, simply put, a game where the protagonist, who attended a school, went off to defeat the Demon King to become a hero. Along the way, he would fight various enemies—thieves, monsters, dark organizations, and villainous nobles—becoming stronger and ultimately defeating the Demon King.
And it seemed I had been reincarnated as one of those enemy characters, the villainous noble Keith Grid, who was defeated by the protagonist relatively early in the game…
Keith Grid was the third son of a Duke, blessed with natural talent, yet he was completely spoiled. On top of that, he lost a duel against the protagonist—a duel he should have won—because he was sleep-deprived from partying the night before. What a ridiculously foolish character.
There were even multiple threads on 2ch celebrating his initial “serves you right” moment in the game. What was funny was that there was a thread dedicated to people genuinely in love with Keith Grid. Well, most of it was just teasing, and while some people claimed to be genuinely in love with him, it was unclear whether they were serious or not.
More importantly, I had been stabbed by a random attacker and reincarnated as Keith? Being reincarnated into a game I’d played to death was exciting, but…
“Why Keith Grid of all people!!!”
++Hmm? No, wait, in a way, reincarnating as Keith Grid might not be so bad.++
He was a Duke, handsome, and on top of that, he possessed amazing combat talent.
I vaguely remembered a setting on the official website that stated Keith Grid was intentionally designed with high stats to make him arrogant, thereby increasing the “serves you right” factor when he lost pathetically to the protagonist, entertaining the players.
++If I can avoid that “serves you right” moment by using his talents, I might be able to enjoy the world of God Blaze――There are a lot of cute girls too… Yeah, that’s it! Let’s do that!++
++First, I should check my status. If I remember correctly, there was a conversation in the game where you had to say “Status Open” in your mind, right?++

++I see… This is amazing.++ Everyone has at least one basic attribute. Special Attributes have a 1 in 1000 chance of appearing. Rare Attributes have a 1 in 500,000 chance of appearing. In other words, having even one Rare Attribute is incredibly rare. There are only supposed to be a handful of people in the original game who have them. And having two Special Attributes is also quite impressive.
And [Levitation] is very convenient to have. It allows you to make yourself, others, and even objects float. Moreover, when combined with [Space], it’s incredibly powerful.
[Space] included spatial teleportation, and of course, you could teleport into the air. However, without [Levitation], you would just fall after teleporting into the air. Therefore, it was said to be the strongest combination in the game.
By the way, what’s rarer than rare attributes are the titles of Sage, Saintess, and Shrine Maiden. These are called unique attributes, and they appear only once every hundred years when the Demon Lord is resurrected.
Hmm? You might be wondering why those aren’t job classes? That’s right, there’s no such thing as job classes in this world. I don’t know why, but the developers made it that way, so it’s not my concern.
As for the hero, they weren’t chosen; whoever defeated the Demon King gained the title of hero. Therefore, anyone, even commoners, could become a hero.
“Hmm, well, my future looks bright…”
Now, then, time to think about what to do next.
The original story began after the protagonist enrolled in the academy. I have one year… I need to get strong enough during that time to live freely without anyone getting in my way.
Fortunately, Keith was arrogant and lost early in the game, when the protagonist was still weak. Therefore, I don’t think it will significantly affect the story even if I don’t become an enemy.
The duel event with the protagonist happens because Keith Grid challenges him out of jealousy over a commoner Saintess who became the protagonist’s childhood friend. ++I’ll skip that event… I actually like commoner Saintesses… I’d even like to get along with her…++
++Well, that probably won’t go well… because the Saintess was in love with the protagonist…++
++Anyway, although this one-year grace period seems long, it’s actually short. I’ll have to make good use of it.++
++For now, I’ll try using some magic.++
(Knock, knock)
“ Keith-sama, may I enter your room?”
“Yes, you may.”
The person who entered was a man in his 50s wearing a butler’s uniform. I knew this butler.
He was a 50-year-old active member of the Kingdom’s secret service, a spy, so to speak.
He wasn’t a spy in the sense of betraying anyone, but rather, he was just keeping a close eye on the Grid Dukedom to make sure they weren’t a threat to the kingdom. Other than that, he was just an ordinary butler for the Grid Dukedom and quite trustworthy… as long as you didn’t pose a threat to the kingdom.
Of course, my father knew that he was a member of the Kingdom’s secret service, so he was more of a watchdog than a spy.
(Appraisal)
Name: Cedric Sebas (Male)
Age: 54
Race: Human
Status: Marquis’ Butler (Kingdom Secret Service)
Level: 200
HP: 6000
MP: 2400
Yep, as expected of the Kingdom’s secret service… he is damn strong. The maximum level is 500, so 200 is quite high in the early stages of the game. By the way, Cedric is one of the strongest contenders in this country. By the way, Cedric is one of the strongest candidates in this country. I can’t see his attributes or unqiue unless I rank up my [Appraisal] to S…
“Keith-sama, I’ve brought your meal.”
“Ah, thank you.”
When I said that, Cedric looked at me with a puzzled expression. It made sense… Keith Grid was arrogant, lazy, and a womanizer; that was his personality. There’s no way he’d say something like “thank you”—that’s who Keith Grid is.
++But I’m still me, and I have no intention of inheriting Keith Grid’s personality.++
“What’s the matter, Cedric?”
“No, it’s nothing. I’ll leave your meal here.”
“Okay.”
“Then, if you need anything, please call me. Now, if you’ll excuse me.”
This was supposed to be a maid’s job, not a butler’s, but there were no maids assigned to Keith Grid. Keith Grid had used his status as a Duke to cause trouble for many people. Verbal abuse, violence, sexual harassment, property damage—countless offenses.
Therefore, his father didn’t particularly care about Keith Grid. So, with no maids assigned to him, Cedric, feeling sorry for him, had reluctantly taken care of him. It was completely Keith Grid’s own fault, though.
“This is going to be a headache…”
For me, who wanted to live freely and flirt with cute girls, this bad reputation was a huge obstacle. For the next year, I needed to make sure that my reputation didn’t get any worse…
