After the magical training, I’m stuck staring at documents. At first, I thought it would be an easy job of just looking at the documents being passed around and stamping them, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
It seems that things hadn’t been checked properly until now, as there are quite a few messy ledgers and sloppy reports. They must think they can take advantage of me… even though Weiss was struggling with this unfamiliar work, they still messed around.
Too bad for them. Thanks to compulsory education and lots of studying through games, I can spot things that seem off.
“Alright, correct the report on this matter and submit it by tomorrow.”
“Y-yes, sir!”
I just scolded the guy who submitted the ridiculous report. He must be racking his brain right now to fix the inconsistencies in the document. Thinking about that, I use my shadow to pick up a new document piled up in the distance.
By the way, this isn’t because I’m too lazy to walk. Rosalia and the others don’t seem to know, but in “Valhara Tactics,” the more you use magic, the more experience points you get. So I make it a point to use it in daily life.
In the game, I only used it in battles, but it’s fun to find unexpected uses for it in everyday life. Plus, I want to see a lot of dark magic in the game, so once I use it, it’s easy to visualize. That said, my mana isn’t infinite.
“But this tastes awful… maybe it’s time for a proper meal.”
I rang the bell while drinking a flavorless, muddy mana recovery potion. After a while, a maid knocked and entered with a silver tray holding a sandwich with ham and vegetables. Since this world didn’t have them, I asked them to make it for me.
Rosalia must be busy, as Meg, the maid with chestnut hair who badmouthed me when I woke up, came instead.
“Weiss-sama…excuse me. I’ve brought your meal.”
Her voice is trembling a little, and it’s not my imagination. She had a smile on her face, but the emotion in her eyes was fear. Weiss must have been quite rough…I smiled to reassure her and speak.
“Thank you, I’ll take it now.”
“Eek!”
With a small scream, she dropped the tray, spilling coffee on her apron. Oh no, I accidentally used shadow magic.
“I’m so sorry! Please forgive me!”
“I’m the one who should be sorry, I accidentally used magic. You must have been surprised. Are you okay? Don’t worry about my food, go change and get checked for burns. I’ll get the food myself.”
I quickly got up, handed her a handkerchief, and approached her. It was hot coffee, is she okay?
However, she didn’t take the handkerchief and just stared at it in disbelief. Huh? Should I be the one to wipe it? But wouldn’t that be harassment?
“Weiss-sama…?”
“Yes? What’s wrong?”
“Well, I was wondering if you wouldn’t yell at me.”
“Of course not…more importantly, are you burned?”
She looked puzzled by my words. This was entirely my fault… Magic can be dangerous, so usually, people don’t use it so casually.
“Um…thank you for your concern. I’ll go change, just to be safe…what should I do about your meal?”
“I’ll go get it myself since I’m already up. After you change, please return to your normal duties.”
“Yes, sir! Um…thank you for your concern.”
With that, she quickly left the room. For some reason, her steps seemed a bit lighter. Watching her leave, I stretched my body. I’ve been sitting for a while, so it’s a good opportunity.
“Weiss-sama…you really have changed…”
She mumbled something under her breath, but I couldn’t quite catch it. Later that night, when I checked my status, I noticed the ++‘Loyalty of the people++ had risen to 11. I wonder what happened?
